After swatting 19 home runs in 124 games for High-A Stockton and Double-A Midland, Skye Bolt is kept his power bat going in the early part of the Arizona Fall League season. Through Monday, Bolt has six extra-base hits in 10 games, including two home runs. His .600 SLG is fourth-best in the league.

Bolt has also shown off his plus running ability, connecting on three triples and swiping two bases. He has a .275/.370/.600 line in 40 at-bats. Bolt has four multi-hit games in 10 starts.

Eli White is also off to a fast start for the Mesa Solar Sox. The utilityman had a three-hit game on Saturday to raise his season line to .351/.432/.432 through nine games played. White has a double and a triple and three stolen bases.

Luis Barrera was named the A’s representative for this weekend’s Fall Stars game. The outfielder has six RBI and five stolen bases in nine games, although his slashline is .229/.308/.314.

On the pitching side, right-handers Jake Bray and Calvin Coker are putting together impressive AFL stints. Bray, who missed most of the 2018 season with injury, has allowed a run on two hits and one walk in 6.2 relief innings. He’s struck out five. Coker, who was added to the Solar Sox’s roster late when Grant Holmes was shutdown with a reoccurrence of his shoulder injury, has allowed two runs (one earned) in 7.1 innings. The 2018 draft pick has eight strikeouts and four walks.

Sam Sheehan and Angel Duno are struggling in the early going. Duno has allowed five runs on four walks and six hits in 4.2 innings. Sheehan has been difficult to hit — allowing just one hit in 7.2 innings — but his 11 walks and three hit batters has led to four runs allowed. Sheehan has struck out seven.

Winter Ball Updates

— Franklin Barreto is making up for at-bats lost while sitting on the A’s bench this season, suiting up for Aragua in the Venezuelan Winter League. Through five games, Barreto has seven hits in 18 at-bats, including a home run and a double.

— Jorge Mateo‘s struggles from the regular season have carried over into the Dominican Winter League. Although he has a pair of three-walk games, Mateo has only one hit in 15 at-bats over six games. He’s stolen a base and been caught stealing once.

— A’s prospects Sean Murphy and Miguel Mercedes are teammates of Mateo’s with the Toros del Este in the DWL. Murphy is batting .143/.265/.143 in 12 games, while Mercedes is looking for his first hit. He’s appeared in two games and has five at-bats. OF/1B Seth Brown will be joining the Toros roster soon, as well.

Sandber Pimentel — who like Murphy and Mercedes missed time with a broken hamate bone this season — has four hits in 19 at-bats over eight games for Estrellas de Oriente. Three of those four hits are doubles.

— Fireballing reliever Kyle Finnegan is off to a solid start in the Mexican Winter League. In 6.1 innings for Hermosillo, he has a 2.84 ERA and an 8:3 K:BB.

“…are struggling in the early going.” Huh? More than half of the games have been played.
