Oakland Athletics prospect Renato Nunez was named to the Pacific Coast League’s post-season All-Star team on Monday. This is Nunez’s first post-season All-Star nod.
The Nashville Sounds’ slugger currently is tied for the minor league lead in homeruns with 32. The 32 homers are a career-high for Nunez, who has also established career-bests for walks (38). Nunez is two homers shy of the Nashville Sounds’ franchise record for a season, currently held by Steve Balboni and Brian Dayett.
Nunez has racked up several honors already this season. He was named to the PCL’s mid-season All-Star team, as well, and earned the game’s MVP award. The 23-year-old has added defensive versatility this season, seeing time in left field and first base, in addition to his traditional third base spot.
