The Oakland A’s traded left-handed relief prospect Logan Salow to the Los Angeles Dodgers for right-hander Wilmer Font on Wednesday. Font had been designated for assignment by the Dodgers.
Salow had been with the Low-A Beloit Snappers, where he had allowed a run in 5 2/3 innings so far this season. He was the A’s sixth-round pick last season out of Kentucky. Salow had a 1.50 ERA in 24 innings for the AZL A’s and short-season Vermont last year.
Font, who is out of options, is a 27-year-old right-hander from Venezuela. In 14 big league appearances, he has allowed 22 runs for an 11.42 ERA. This season, Font had a 11.32 ERA in 10.1 innings with the Dodgers before being designated for assignment.
Font threw a 134.1 innings last season with Triple-A Oklahoma City and had a 3.42 ERA and 178 strikeouts. He began his career in 2007 in the Rangers’ organization.
