Oakland Athletics prospect video: Lazarito takes BP

Lazaro Armenteros takes batting practice in Mesa, Arizona, in advance of the Arizona Rookie League season.

The Arizona Rookie League season opens on Saturday night and highly regarded prospect Lazaro Armenteros — otherwise known as Lazarito — will be on the AZL A’s Opening Day roster. Lazarito made his professional debut earlier this month with the A’s Dominican Summer League squad, but he will be putting up official at-bats in the United States for the first time as part of the AZL A’s squad. The 18-year-old signed a seven-figure deal with the A’s last July 2nd.

Kimberly Contreras was at the A’s minor league complex in Mesa this week and filmed the above footage of Lazarito taking batting practice.
