The Oakland A’s have added Jaycob Brugman to the Mesa Solar Sox’s roster. He replaces Tyler Ramirez, who has been sidelined since the league’s first week with a lower-back strain.
Brugman returns to the AFL after participating in the league’s 2015 season. Brugman hit .266 with a .329 OBP that year. The centerfielder is coming off of an eventful season that saw him make his major-league debut but also lose time at the beginning and end of the season with leg injuries. Brugman played 38 games for Nashville and 48 games for the A’s this season. He finished the year on the Nashville DL after breaking his foot on a foul ball.
Ramirez appeared in only four games before his back prevented him from getting on the field again. He had only one hit in 17 at-bats, but the one hit was a homerun. Ramirez hit .304 with a .398 OBP in 134 games for the High-A Stockton Ports and the Double-A Midland RockHounds this season.
